At Heycroft, we believe in the importance of the democratic process: pupils elect their own school council representatives via secret ballots.
Our school council places our pupils at the centre of Heycroft's decision-making; we believe that by taking an active role in the decisions that affect them, pupils gain ownership of their school. Through meetings, discussion and canvasing opinion, we can involve all pupils in democratic decisions, ensuring that every voice is valued. Issues raised in class meetings are taken to the school council to find solutions. Pupils at Heycroft work in tandem with our parent/teacher association: The Friends of Heycroft School and they are directly involved with raising funds and are a vital part of decisions on how these funds are allocated to the benefit of all. Pupils at Heycroft know that they can make a difference and their ideas and contributions matter.
